Deridge investigates spreading systems through different geoscientific research disciplines with detailied investigation of the sea floor by remote operated vehicles (ROV). Deridge as the German part of InterRidge is an interdisciplinary research project, defined as a priority program (SPP1144) of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft which funds 21 single research projects. Areas of interest are the Logatchev Hydrothermal Field and the Ascension Fracture Zone.
Data management is carried out at the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (MARUM) in close cooperation with IFM-GEOMAR. Deridge is the first project, making intense use of the facilities at WDC-MARE to archive track data and documentation, video films, still images and high resolution photos taken by a ROV.
